Venue notes: New York South, Florence NJ

Defunct all-ages punk venue, located at 2071 rte 130 S in Florence NJ. It was operated by Randy Now (Randy Ellis) for a short time in the 1980s as a sort of adjunct to his much better known City Gardens club in Trenton. Eric Rhoads recalls in 2019: "It was a short lived club which if I recall then became a strip club later. It was another Randy Now Other Side Production venue but really only open for shows. Saw MDC there as well as Hüsker Dü."

From this 2005 City Gardens retrospective, written by Chris Bade: "Back in 1983, City Gardens only had 21-and-up shows. [Randy] Now realized the amount of kids that were missing out on shows, so he began booking bands at an all-ages club called New York South (now Deliverance Church) in Florence, NJ. Suicidal Tendencies' first East Coast show was at New York South. The Dead Kennedys, Butthole Surfers, and Kraut also played there. Ah, if those church walls could talk."

Deliverance Church, cited above, still occupied the site as recently as 2017, but the July 2018 Google streetview capture shows a "For Lease" sign out front.
