WEEKLY GRIPE
Having recently moved back to town from Austin, Texas, I hear people suggest how great it must have been to see acts like Dale Watson and Alejandro Escovedo on a weekly basis. My reply is usually, "Yeah, for me and a dozen other people." I've seen the same sad phenomenon here recently at under-attended gigs by hometown greats Grant Hart and Slim Dunlap. Hart's solo Entry show last week devolved into one woman drunkenly requesting Pixies songs. Hart did offer a great impression of Frank Black: "I'm an asshole," was all he said. |
