 Jockey Club, Newport KY (1980s)
Photo: unknown (from Jockey Club Remembered page)

The extinct Jockey Club at 633 York St, shown in its glory days in the bottom (black and white) photo, was partially demolished in 1988. The photo just above it shows the demolition in progress. The front portion of the building was replaced by empty space, used for parking by the cab company next door. In two of the newer photos (July 2007), the "Antiques" sign remains visible on the building to the right, although it's been repainted and the "Howes" ("Lowes?") part has been scrubbed off. Old-timers in the neighborhood disagreed about the location of the club, but subsequent testimony has established that the back portion of the building, which housed the stage, has survived and was still standing as of 2016. In the 2014 Google streetview image, it's the white structure set back from the street with the open garage door.
