The Palms operated as a live music club at 2612/2616 State Street from 1979-1986. The building was home to the State Theater from the time of its construction in 1915 until 1955, when it was taken over by a series of nightclubs, the last of which closed in 1991. The building was then boarded up and (as of 2021) has stood empty ever since. In 2017 it was gutted by fire, but remained standing. Date of the photo that shows the actual club (top left) is uncertain, but the source seems to imply that it's from 1984. The State Theater photo to its right is from 1941. The photo at bottom left was shot in the immediate aftermath of the fire, February 2017, and the Google image at bottom right was captured in October 2019. Hüsker Dü played The Palms on 11 Jan 1986.
