The official listed address of the University of Chicago's Mandel Hall, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, is 1131 E. 57th St, but the sprawling L-shaped complex--which includes Hutchinson Commons, Reynolds Club, and Mitchell Tower--extends around the corner along S. University Ave. As indicated on the campus map, Mandel Hall proper appears to occupy the southernmost segment on the University Ave side (leftmost building in the Google Earth image at the top, and the the subject of the next image down), and most photos of "Mandel Hall" show this aspect of the complex. The theater inside, a large seated space with a balcony, is also called Mandel Hall, adding to the ambiguity. There are additional smaller performance spaces within the complex, however, so not all gig venues designated as Mandel Hall can be assumed to be the big theater. The two photos above the campus map detail show the entrance on 57th St. Hüsker Dü played here (but reportedly not in the main theater) on 09 Oct 1987.
